Sequined Eyes

A popular look this summer is a shimmery sparkly eye. It's hot because its super simple to apply and the simplicity of the look is just what this summer needs! (Especially if you're going to wear all those bright colors!) It's cute, relaxed and the sparkly is sure to attract a lot of attention!

Step 1 : Select the Sparkle!
A lot of eye shadow these days contain sparkle. However, to achieve this look you need to look for a really really shimmery palette. I recommend L'Oreal High Intensity Pigments (HIP) eye shadows. Specifically the Studio Secret's Crystal line.

Seriously, its almost like compact glitter!

Step 2: Prepping the Lid

Before applying the eye shadow, prep your lids with concealer. This will help to hold the eye shadow, it will serve as a base to which the eye shadow will stick to. (If you don't have concealer, non-oil liquid foundation works too! - or any thing that calls itself a 'base' for foundation) 

I use Yves Saint Laurent Concealer - it's magical! 

TIP: When applying any eye shadow that you want to stick try to find a 'primer'. I use Urban Decay's Primer Potion (below) It really works well and you stop worrying if your eye shadow is messy! I recommend it strongly!

Step 3: Sprinkle Your Lids

If you have two different shades, use the lighter shade first and lightly brush it around your eye lids - just like the base, from the edge of your lashes to a little above the crease near the brow. It's a lighter shade so don't think you need to constantly apply it for it to show! 

Move onto the next shade. Press the powder to the lid, don't swipe! By pressing you are applying more concentrated layers of sparkle. Apply the second shade from the lash to the crease. 

Step 4: Finishing the Look

Remove any shimmer that's fallen on your face - use make up wipes, they're a life saver! Then add your eye liner, this time I used gel liner. It's easy to control and it doesn't smudge as much as the pencil liner and I don't have to worry about it smearing dry like liquid liner. It's also not a bold as liquid so it softens the look. And then add your mascara!
