Broadway: Sister Act

Oh yes, that famous 1992 movie starring Whoopi Goldberg has become a musical and has come to the Broadway stage! The musical is exactly like the movie, but for those who don't know the story here we go!

Disco singer Deloris Van Cartier, played by the Tony nomiee Patina Miller - who is extraordinary - has dreams of hitting the bit time. But then things take a turn for the worst when she accidentally walks in on a "hit." The police have promised to hide her in the last place anyone would think to look - a convent! At first Deloris, or should I say 'Sister Mary Clarence', has trouble adjusting to life under the strict rule of Mother Superior, played by Tony winner Victoria Clark. But she then has the opportunity to transform the convent's choir, and it becomes the most glorious new musical act in town. Deloris forms lasting bonds with her new found 'sisters'  and the gang that after her finds itself up agaisnt an unstoppable team of soulful sisters! (All from 'The Details' section of the official Sister Act Broadway website).

2011 Tony Awards, "Raise Your Voice"

I love this movie, so I'm pretty sure I'll love the musical! (It was up for Best Musical this year!)
Love,
ALPHA
