I'm sure we've all seen the movie version of this musical, you know with Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio - it was quite the movie, and now it's on Broadway? Well, wow.
Just like the movie, the musical story follows the story of the con artist Frank Abagnale, Jr. (Actually the majority of the plot is borrowed from the 2002 movie - which in turn was based on Abagnale's 1980 autobiography). It first appeared in Seattle in 2009, and then finally made it to Broadway in April 2011 at the Neil Simon Theater.
The musical was nominated for four Tony Awards including Best Musical, but only won Best Actor in a Musical for Norbert Leo Butz (who plays Carl Hanratty - Tom Hanks' role), see him perform in the video below from the Tony Awards this year.
The musical actually received mixed reviews. (Check out the reviews here). The most positive review came from Michael Giltz of the Huffington Post stating, "Catch Me If You Can is a sheer delight from the poignant and brilliant book by Terrence McNally to the sexy but character-driven choreography by Jerry Mitchell to the perfect sets by David Rockwell to the spot-on costumes by William Ivey Long to Kenneth Posner's marvelous lighting. It's all tied together by the superlative direction of Jack O'Brein which is seamless in weaving together drama, comedy, dance, acting, genuine scenes of pathos and casual banter with the audience and orchestra". I mean it couldn't have been truly bad - it was up for Best Musical!

The 2011 Tony Awards, begins with "Live in Living Color"
and ends with "Don't Break the Rules"
I think it looks cute and sleek. I mean the performance at the Tony's looked splendid! But I guess I'd have to see it to check right? It's interesting that there's a book, movie and musical! You compare it to each other - fascinating, right? Check out the official show site here!
Love,
ALPHA
