Out With the Old, In With the New

There is an expiration date on almost everything with own (well, except for twinkies I suppose) but for everything else including your make up! So examine your make-up - all of it! Make-up in your bags, drawers, cabinets; it's time to clean out what's old and needs to be thrown away.

Anything that's in a broken container or missing a cap - if it's still good you can transfer liquids into a fresh bottle, scoop out creams and lipsticks and transfer them to small containers or palettes, and place capless pencils in zip-top plastic bags. But if you've had it for awhile, it's probably time to throw that out and get a new one! Broken powder blushes and pressed powder compacts are irreparable and should be tossed. You really should clean up weekly or monthly - I mean it's far easier than semiannual overhauls!

So this is a list about how long your make-up usually lasts. If you've had it for longer, dear lady let it go. ( This means you can get better, newer, prettier make-up!)

Liquid and Cream Foundation  - 2 Years
Concealer - 2 Years
Powder - 2 Years
Mascara - 6 Months
Lipstick - 12 to 18 Months
Lip and Eye Pencils - 12 to 18 Months
Eye Shadow - 2 Years
Powder Blush - 2 Years
Cream Blush - 2 Years
Moisturizer - 2 Years
Eye Cream - 6 Months
Sunscreen - 2 Years
Face Cream - 2 Years

I know you may really love that certain shade and that one perfect mascara - but really, if its past expiration that you know it probably isn't that great anymore (and it could hurt your skin!). So really, out with the old and in with the new! Who doesn't like to shop for new make-up? I know I love it! Stay beautiful :)

Love,
ALPHA
