Look Chic for Driving School

So this Alpha has been attending driving school for the past two weeks, and I seem to have a hard time deciding what to wear, because I have to keep in mind being comfortable, dressing appropriately to drive a car, and dressing appropriately so your driving school instructor doesn't think you're a slut. Here in Japan, the instructors advise that you wear something with maximum coverage, and all driving schools require you to wear shoes with flat soles and ankle coverage. Many people take driving school just about now, because of summer break and we all want to get it over with. I always wear shorts and a tank top and try to achieve maximum coverage with that, but sometimes I feel like eyes are all over me because I'm not dressing conventionally.

For maximum coverage, try jeans or jeggings that allow air to go through. You're going to be doing something you aren't familiar with (DRIVING) and you might be a little nervous, so go for a lighter fabric. For the top, make sure it is not too low cut and uncomfortable for you. I guess for every look you have to go for comfort. Match this look with a cute pair of flat shoes - it may be better that they are shoes you've already worn out so they don't distract you as you drive. Now, what's a look without a little accessorizing? I paired the outfit with a little dangly earring that is oh-so cute. (tops, jeans, and shoes from Topshop; earrings from Forever 21).

For the medium coverage look, wear a pair of shorts with a plain tee. The shorts I found are super light weight linen shorts and look extremely comfortable. These shorts aren't too short, so it'll go to about mid-thigh or even a little longer. I'm not too unique about my styling, but if you are on the brave side, you can style the shorts with a print tee or something more daring. The flats are pretty plain, but they both have a little edge. I would pair the blue flats with the white shorts, and black flats with the blue shorts. Again, I added in earrings to play with the look a little. (shorts and black/white tee from Topshop; basic v-neck tee from Victoria's Secret; flats from Kurt Geiger; earrings from Forever 21).

The minimum coverage look is similar to the medium coverage look, but the shorts become a little shorter and I added in a tank top for a little more flesh to show. Again, these are both breezy tops so you won't suffocate yourself while trying to drive correctly. For the look on the left, I would tuck in the shirt to give it a more polished look, but for the look on the right I would wear the shirt and shorts as they are. The shoes are flat and comfortable, yet have exquisite detailing. Go ahead and add in some accessories whether they are earrings, rings, necklaces, etc! (tops and shorts from Topshop; shoes from Kurt Geiger).

You could also wear a dress or a skirt, but I would be careful with those. First of all, make sure your dress or skirt isn't too short - getting in and out of the car would be a drag and you wouldn't want your instructor to see your rear end. Also make sure it's not the kind of material that would flip up with any small movement. While driving you may have to look back (like when driving the car in reverse gear) and your dress may inch up slowly, revealing you undies. I wore a dress today for my permit exam thinking it was only a written test but there was also a driving portion to it! Be careful ladies!

Love,
ALPHA
