Television: The Borgias

The Borgias is a historical fiction cinematic television series created by Neil Jordan. The series is based on the Borgia family, an Italian dynasty of Spanish origin, and stars Jeremy Irons as Pope Alexander VI with François Arnaud as Cesare, Holliday Grainger as Lucrezia, David Oakes as Juan and Aidan Alexander as Gioffre Borgia.

The series follows the rise of the Borgia family to the pinnacle of the Roman Catholic Church and their struggles to maintain their grip on power. The beginning of the first season depicts the election of Rodrigo Borgia to the papacy through simony and bribery with the help of his son, Cesare. The triumph in the papal conclave of Borgia, who becomes Pope Alexander VI, enrages his rivals in the College of Cardinals, some of whom decide to plot against him. With the help of his family, Alexander takes on his enemies while striking alliances with other European powers to strengthen his position. Meanwhile, Alexander's great rival, Cardinal Della Rovere travels across Italy and France to seek allies to depose the pope. He manages to persuade King Charles of France to assist him in removing Pope Alexander in exchange for supporting the King's claim to the throne of Naples, an ally of the Borgias through marriage.

WELL, if you're a history person like me you should totally check this show out. Love the show The Tudors? Then you would definitely love this show. History, attractive men, sex, crime - what more do you need right?

iPhone 5 - New Concepts

There are so many different ideas and concepts for the upcoming iPhone 5. It's interesting to see the various kinds but which one will it actually be?? I think I've mentioned it before...but I hardly doubt it will be the see-through iPhone - I just think it's illogical. Here are some other possibilities though that I think could all potentially be the new iPhone 5.

I'd like to think they modeled this after the orignal iPod mini

This looks like an iPad mixed with a regular smartphone.

This one really interests me. I actually do like it a lot.
It seems so futuristic!

Once again, looks like the iPad mixed with smartphone

This one looks like the iPhone 3/3G with minor adjustments.

What do you think???

The Kinsey Scale

This is the Kinsey Scale.

The Kinsey scale, also called the Heterosexual-Homosexual Rating Scale, attempts to describe a person's sexual history or episodes of his or her sexual activity at a given time. It uses a scale from 0, meaning exclusively heterosexual, to 6, meaning exclusively homosexual.

OKAYYY, so this is just one interpretation of an explanation of sexuality. I think it's pretty interesting and it is in line with my thoughts about sexuality. So here it is:

0  - Exclusively heterosexual
1  - Predominantly heterosexual, only incidentally homosexual
2  - Predominantly heterosexual, but more than incidentally homosexual
3  - Equally heterosexual and homosexual
4  - Predominantly homosexual, but more than incidentally heterosexual
5  - Predominantly homosexual, only incidentally heterosexual
6  - Exclusively homosexual

Lately, I've been thinking about my personal sexuality. I know I'm straight, but I don't think I'm a complete zero. Now I don't have sexual desires for other women and I don't think any thing will happen - but I don't know, just the mere fact that I wont completely call myself a "0" straight person says something. I'd like to think that love is love and I'll love whoever I want when it feels right. Bam. There.

iPhone - iOS 6.0

Okay, so this isn't anywhere close to the iPhone 5 - which personally has no appeal to me (why would you want it see through...wouldn't that be hard to work with??). But there is an update in the iPhone. The update is the new iOS 6.0. My friend some how receives a special early update. but here's how it looks!

Personally, I don't see much of a difference. Yeah it looks slightly changed but I guess I need to do more research on it! Let's see...ah here we go:

According to Apple:

"iOS 6 gives you more features to make the things you do every day even better. It’s coming this fall, and it’s free and easy to upgrade wirelessly on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch — the moment it’s available."

Well, everything looks pretty swell - just check it out! Click HERE. I'm excited to get the update. Aren't you??

Movies: Dark Shadows

Dark Shadows is an American comedy horror film based on the 1966–71 gothic horror soap opera of the same name. The film is directed by Tim Burton and stars Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins, a 200-year-old vampire who was imprisoned in a coffin but is unearthed and makes his way back to his mansion now inhabited by his dysfunctional descendants. He soon runs into trouble revitalising the family's canned fish business, as his jealous ex-flame and imprisoner Angelique Bouchard, played by Eva Green, runs the rival company. Michelle Pfeiffer also stars as his cousin Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, the reclusive matriarch of the Collins family.

My thoughts: I'm sorry Mr. Burton...this movie was just meh. I feel like I liked it because it was Tim Burton and had great actors actresses which...I think just means that I respect it...at a very small level.... I just think there were many many loose ends. Many points either had too much development or a very small amount. It was pretty predictable. So basically I'm saying that the story was meh. I thought the scenery, costumes and actings were great. I loved all the people in the movie - I seriously wished that Eva Green spoke with a British accent though - there were times when she was speaking that I was distracted because some British seeped out and yeah...it bothered me a little.

SO, see the movie or not see the movie? I wouldn't pay to see it...even though I did... I mean it's comical and the soundtrack is fun. But, maybe wait til you can rent it or catch it in TV.

Indy Pride 2012

This past weekend was the Pride parade and festival in Indianapolis. I'm so happy that I got to go and just be there surrounded by happy (and interesting) people. I think I'm mostly happy though that I got to see a lot of my friends so proud of who they are and of who they love. It was great to see people smiling and there was just so much love all around.

As you may know, I'm very supportive of the LGBT community. Even though I'm not any one of those, many of my friends are and I am so proud to call them my friends. They are probably the strongest people I know - having to deal with a lot in their lives and not denying who they really are.

If you're not sure about your sexuality, well it all depends all on you and you know what it's not always certain. Your sexuality is your concern - not societies, nor anyone else's. It is your personal business (unless you wanna tell people i guess). I'm just saying...be yourself! And you know what no one should affect or tell you who to be.

In a way, Pride isn't just for the LGBT, it's for people who are proud of themselves and respects those of different sexuality. In the end it's all about respect - for others and for yourself.

Television: MisFits

Misfits is a British science fiction drama television show about a group of young offenders sentenced to work in a community serviceprogramme, where they obtain supernatural powers after a strange electrical storm.

That basically sums up the show. Every episode the gang has some new problem related to this freak storm that gave other people powers - some good some absolutely horrible!

Exciting show. I found it extremely entertaining. It's a little bit hard to understand if you're not familiar with British slag...lol found that out - but in the end it doesn't matter you understand just finnnnne.

Um. adventure. thriller. romance/SEX a lot of it. ummm comedy. a bit scary at times but it's alll good :)

Television: Revenge

Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) comes to the Hamptons for the summer, renting a home next to the Grayson family to enjoy a bright summer. However, it is revealed that Emily has been to the Hamptons before as a little girl. In reality, Emily is Amanda Clarke, whose father was framed for a crime he didn't commit and sent to prison for life. She was permanently separated from him and never saw him again. Now, she's returned to the Hamptons, intent on getting revenge against those who wronged her and her father, the top of that list being Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe), matriarch of the Grayson family and the woman whom her father loved and who, in the end, betrayed him.

As she sets her plan in motion, Emily tries to navigate the upper society to destroy those who betrayed her father. But the further she goes, the more her emotions get involved and the more she questions her motives and the moves she makes.

Interesting show I must say. Pretty engaging and clever. I like it, nothing I need to watch religiously something I easily caught up on. But! If you like mystery and duh getting revenge in a clever way watch the show!

Tired Sex

Try: The Dirty Dangle

Here's Why: He does all the work, so you can lay back and enjoy the ride.

Erotic Instructions: This is the opposite of The Supernova: Begin by lying on your back at the foot end of the bed. Have him mount you missionary style and when you’re both close to climax, inch toward the edge of the bed until your head, shoulders, and arms hang backward over the side. Then tell him to keep on thrusting.

WTF? Celebrity Updates

Well, let's face it we can't escape celebrities, here are two new facts that I was told in the last week.

1) Miley Cyrus is engaged to Liam Hemsworth. Well good for you two...apparently according to Miley's mom, he is the love of her life. Hollywood Love. Let's see how long they're going to last! (Sorry if you're a Cyrus/Hemsworth fan).

2) Amanda Bynes is asking Obama for help with her DUI. Now you cannot not laugh at that. Firstly, Amanda we know you play funny weird girls but this is just way to much haha really? really?! This is actually one of the many reasons why I really do love Amanda Bynes. hahahaha. girl you cray.

Television: Downton Abbey

This particular series is set in the fictional Downton Abbey, the Yorkshire country house of the Earl and Countess of Grantham, and follows the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants during the reign of King George V. If you like movies like Pride and Prejudice or the Young Victoria (like I do) you're most likely going to adore this show. Its not your common TV show, for one thing I felt really educated - probably because of the "British-ness" of it. It's different and interesting to see another lifestyle.  I thought I wouldn't like it...but it really really draws you in!

The first series spans the two years before the Great War beginning with news of the sinking of the Titanicin 1912, which sets the story in motion. The second series covers the years 1916 to 1919, and the 2011 Christmas Special covers the 1919 Christmas period, ending in early 1920.

SOOOOO check it out yo! The first episode happens to be free on iTunes right now!!!

The Typical American Summer

I've been in the midwest for about a month now and this past weekend - ahh it was the iconic American summer! Saturday I was with my old Indiana high school friends and we just chilled and hung out in the basement of our friends house laughing and painting (yeah, we had some inspiration going on!) But it was great!

Sunday - ah it was such a perfect Indiana day! First, milk shakes from Which Wich - to die for and then pick up some waters and head off to the beach and lake!! Spent about three hours there in the warm sun and cool waters. ((Yeah, I got a little burn but oh well it was so worth it)). We made a huge sandscape - not a sand castle but like an entire village - it was AWESOME. And to end the day - Steak and Shake!! Gosh I've missed those Frisco Melts!!

So, as much as I love the city and technology, it was really great to just relax in nature and just really soak up the sun.

Television: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

So, I realize I'm about ten years late with this show (then again, I didn't have a blog ten years ago). Anyway, having Hulu Plus has led me to numerous amounts of television shows, Buffy being one of them (all seven seasons!!). Okay, so it might be a little outdated but who doesn't like a flash back to the 90s? Besides that's only in like the first two seasons. Buffy, the original vampire and demon show - it's a classic and should be given tons and tons of credit (you're awesome Joss Whedon).

Everyone knows of Buffy (if not, then you've been living under a rock!). I remember when I was in elementary school/middle school watching Buffy with my sisters and freaking the hell out!! Some episodes are really freaky but it's all about the rush! So, once I got Hulu Plus, I decided to watch all of Buffy - so worth it. I started it about beginning or mid-April and now I'm just about to finish the sixth season and finish the series with the last season. :(

But! If you like adventure, sci-fi & magic, friendship, romance, and characters to fall in love with, Buffy is the show for you! I just think it's so amazing that there is 154 episodes and each have a different villan and problem - so completely amazed. I guess I realize I'm not really saying much with this - just watch a couple of episodes and you'll see why so many people love Buffy and friends!

Oh, and when you're done with all 7 seasons, don't fear! You can easily continue the "Buffy" feel with Angel!

Somebody That I Used To Know...

I'm sure we've all heard of this song (it's been a major hit for a while now!). It might be getting on some people's nerves but I it hasn't annoyed me yet. I think it's because I can relate a lot to this song - which I'm sure many can. Just read the first verse:

Now and then I think of when we were together
Like when you said you felt so happy you could die
I told myself that you were right for me
But felt so lonely in your company
But that was love and it's an ache I still remember
You can get addicted to a certain kinda sadness
Like resignation to the end, always the end
So when we found that we could not make sense
Well you said that we would still be friends
But I'll admit that I was glad that it was over

Story of my love life. Yes, Beta and I had a great time then he stopped talking to me we drifted apart and then boom back into my life and this pattern went on and on and on and on. Until last month. Okay, I couldn't deal with him anymore - just couldn't read his statuses or let him just contact me, it was just too painful and I just couldn't stop thinking about him or wonder if he thought of me. So...I deleted him on Facebook. It was like a week after that he noticed and texted me (I didn't responde to the text and just accepted his request). Well, a week or two after that he talked to me again. Asked me what happened and we just had a normal conversation. Then once again lust or passion or whatever consume me. We were finally in the same town - this hasn't happened in two years probably... I wanted to see him and he told me that he wanted to but we shouldn't since it will bring up feelings again. Excuse me? What's the point of talking and flirting with me when you don't want feelings to come up. Are you serious? OKAY. Finally stood up and told him that I can't and don't want to talk to him anymore, that I need to get on.

So, I agree with the majority of this song but the whole cutting off part...sometimes you just need to break it off to make him the person that you used to know. You need to cut the ties and just completely stop everything. Let yourself heal and focus on yourself. You deserve better and more! So yeah, Beta. You are Somebody that I used to know - and I'm glad that this is our relationship now. Thank You.

9 Health Benefits of Chocolate

1. A Healthier Heart
The latest research backs up claims that chocolate has cardiovascular benefits and that about a square of dark chocolate a day lowers blood pressure and reducs risk of heart attack and stroke by 39 percent. Most of the credit goes to flavonoids, antioxidant compounds that increase the flexibility of veins and arteries. But since those antioxidants come with a generous portion of sugar, milk, and butter, chowing down on chocolate isn't an excuse to skip your workout. Chocolate and exercise actually work surprisingly well together: Another recent study, out of Australia this time, showed that eating chocolate high in healthy antioxidants reduced the blood pressure-raising effects of exercise on overweight individuals. So go ahead and reward yourself. A chocolate bar has five times the flavonoids of an apple, after all.
2. Weight Loss

Researchers from the University of Copenhagen found that dark chocolate is far more filling, offering more of a feeling of satiety than its lighter-colored sibling. That is, dark chocolate lessens cravings for sweet, salty, and fatty foods. So if indulging in a bit of healthy dark chocolate should not only make it easy for you to stick to the small portion recommended for optimal health, but it should make it easier for you to stick to your diet in general.

3. Happier Kids

Women who ate chocolate daily during their pregnancy reported that they were better able to handle stress than mothers-to-be who abstained. Also, a Finnish study found their babies were happier and smiled more.

4.  Diabietes Prevention

Candy as a diabetes foe? Sure enough. In a small Italian study, participants who ate a candy bar's worth of dark chocolate once a day for 15 days saw their potential for insulin resistance drop by nearly half. "Flavonoids increase nitric oxide production," says lead researcher Claudio Ferri, M.D., a professor at the University of L'Aquila in Italy. "And that helps control insulin sensitivity."

5. Reduced Stress

UC San Diego researchers recently confirmed what your fat pants could have told them back in college: When times get tough, people tend to dip into the chocolate stash more often than they might otherwise. And as it turns out, that kind of emotional eating might not be such a bad thing. You know what kind of havoc stress and its sneaky sidekick cortisol can wreak on your body. Swiss scientists (who else?) found that when very anxious people ate an ounce and a half of dark chocolate every day for two weeks, their stress hormone levels were significantly reduced and the metabolic effects of stress were partially mitigated. After a breakup, break out a dark chocolate bar rather than a pint of ice cream.

6. Sun Protection

London researchers recently tested chocolate flavanols' sun-protecting prowess. After 3 months eating chocolate with high levels of flavanols, their study subjects' skin took twice as long to develop that reddening effect that indicates the beginning of a burn.
7. Higher Intelligence
Not only will it help your body ward off the effects of stress, but it'll boost your brain power when you really need it. Drinking cocoa rich in flavanols boosts blood flow to key parts of the brain for 2 to 3 hours, which could improve performance and alertness in the short term. People who consumed flavanol-rich chocolate, wine, or tea scored significantly higher on cognitive tests than those who didn't.

8. Cough Relief

One study found that chocolate quieted coughs almost as well as codeine, thanks to the theobromine it contains. This chemical, responsible for chocolate's feel-good effect, may suppress activity in a part of the brain called the vagus nerve.
9. Diarrhea Relief
Scientists at the Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute found that cocoa flavonoids bind to a protein that regulates fluid secretion in the small intestine, potentially stopping the trots in their tracks.
