Broadway: Spider-Man - Turn Off the Dark

Apparently, comic books and movies aren't enough for Spider-Man. This summer, Spider-Man began performing on the Broadway stage. The rock musical is based on the book by Julie Taymor, Glen Berger and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa with music and lyrics written by U2's Bono and The Edge. The musical is another adaption of how Peter Parker became the hero Spider-Man, his romance with Mary Jane and his battles with the evil Green Goblin.

This musical turned heads not only because of Bono and The Edge's involvement, but because of the highly technical stunts - actors actually swing from "webs" and there are many aerial combat scenes. There were many problems and actual incidents (injures!) that held the preview of the actual musical. ((It is the center of many jokes in the Broadway world)). This production is actually the most expensive Broadway show and had the longest preview period in history. Even though it opened in November 2010, the official opening was postponed several times and technically opened on June 14, 2011.

Okay, so apparently the reviews aren't that great...but aren't you curious to see what its like? I remember when there was a story about this musical in Vogue - in the fashion/costume aspect. They were absolutely gorgeous and extraordinary! Another reason why I kind of want to see it...well, don't you?

Love,
