Dress Your Age

I think it's important to embrace your age - and that means embracing what you should and shouldn't wear a that age too. Here are some tips I read from Chicago boutique owner Ikram Goldman in the August Issue of Vogue.

...In the 20s
"I love the idea of clothes that are sprightly and fun, with youthful shapes and a bold mix of prints, and often even a vintage feel - maybe something from Suno or Dosa"

...In the 30s
"By now you should know your parameters, understand your strengths and powerfulness. I think a brand like Proenza Schouler, with its beautiful silhouettes and strong patterns, is perfect for these years"

...In the 40s
"You've worked so hard to be where you are! Now you are really comfortable with your body, you have a certain sense of security, and you can afford clothes with gorgeous restraint and clean lines, like those from Narciso Rodriguez"

20s (Far Left) 30s (Left Center) 40s (Center) 50s (Right Center) 60s + (Right)

...In the 50s
"I find a lot of women in their 50s increasingly body conscious. You want to feel young but not look inappropriately young! It may sound counter intuitive, but I think beautiful knit dresses from, say, Azzedine Alaia look so elegant at this age"

...In the 60s+
"You get to a point where you want only the finer things in life, period. Think about the highest, most exquisite pieces from Chanel - this is truly the time for serious investment dressing

Okay, I realize that a lot of the options that Ikram Goldman makes are for outrageously expensive clothing, but based on what she says, find an absolutely cheaper steal! Accept your age and your body - you're beautiful no matter what :)

Love,
ALPHA
