BCBG MAXAZRIA

For Alpha, BCBG is the best place to look at affordable gorgeous dresses from prom or any other formal event.  My first prom dress was from BCBG and I absolutely cherish it! The founder of the brand is a French designer of Tunisian decent named Max Azria. Not only is he the main designer of the contemporary clothing brand, he is also the chairman and CEO of the BCBG MAXAZRIA Group which is a global fashion house that encompasses over twenty other brands.

The main brand launched in 1989. BCBG is actually a French phrase "Bon Chic, Bon Genre" meaning "Good Style, Good Attitude". What I love about this brand is that it actually designer fashion but at a more affordable price. (I mean it's still expensive, but at least I can actually buy one nice thing every now and then!)

There actually two designer collections: Max Azria Atelier and Max Azria. The former is a collection of couture gowns created for celebrity clients and red-carpet events. Stars like Helle Berry, Fergie, and Alicia Keys have worn this label. The latter, is a ready-to-wear collection which appears on the runway at New York Fashion Week and can be found in the BCBG stores around the world.

In 1998, Azria acquired the Hervé Léger fashion house - marking the first time in history that an American fashion house acquired a French couturier. In 2007, the label was relaunched with Azria designs. It was receive with arms open and immense success. Soon the designs were embraced by stars like Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Kate Winslet.

For a younger look, the house created the collection BCBG Generation in 2008. And in the following year it teamed up with Miley Cyrus to create a line for Walmart appropriately called, "Miley Cyrus & Max Azria".

I always love to walk into their stores - of course it is very rare for me to actually buy something of there's but I feel like such a grown up because these are higher end clothes. It's like a Dior or Chanel but for college students. BCBG is totally an Alpha favorite!
