Cute Curly Hair

My Curler is from Revlon.
Curling your hair can be a difficult task - but I'm here to offer my assistance. So, this is how to curl your hair with the use of a iron curler. (Other curlers, you just put them in roll pins...it's pretty simple, dealing with the extreme curls is the challenge!) Okay, back to curling. First, you're going to need a curler. There are many types of curlers depending how big of a curl you want. What decides the size of your curl is the thickness of the iron. The smaller and thinner, the smaller the curls. This is the curling iron you want to use if you have thin hair or shorter hair - the curls are more easier to make and its clearer to see. The larger iron is for longer hair, and they produce a curl that's kind of has a wavy hair feel. So, since I have shorter hair (near my shoulders) I'm going to use the smaller iron. (If you need an iron and need help click here!)

Step 1: Prep Your Hair
Unlike the post I made about Straightening Hair, it doesn't really matter what condition your hair is in - I mean it should be good enough that you can use an iron in it! But its not mandatory for it to be clean! In fact, it's better if it's a little oily because then the hair will mold easier. But, like the straightening hair post, layers are key! Also, use that protective spray again!

Step 2: Begin to Curl!
Believe it or not, curling hair isn't as hard as you think. Open the iron at the top of the hair you're going to curl and slide it down to the bottom. You'll discover that your hair flips a certain direction, I find that its easier to curl your hair the direction of the flip. So when you find which way to curl, roll the curling iron to the edge of your roots. Make sure the hair is evenly space along the iron, so the hair touches the iron - it will curl better because it is exposed to the heat.

Wait a few seconds, and then release the iron and gently pull it down. The curl should just slip off the iron.

There! A Curl!
So, basically you just repeat this over and over and over again, going by layers insures that you curl every hair. If you don't wish to have a head of curls, just curl which ever piece you want to. It's basically all up to you. You know what looks good! After you're down curling your hair, play with it until you get the look you want. I always style it with bobby pinks and hair accessories to get a little 50s pin up girl hair style. If you want long curls, pull on the curls or when curling your hair spread the hair more apart when on the iron - or just use a thicker iron!

ALPHA

P.S. If you're in a hurry and want curly hair, use a large iron to curl the hair nearest to your body - or even just curl the ends with a small curler, and focus on the the upper layers cause let's face it they wont see your bottom layers right?

P.P.S. For curls at the back of your head, ask a friend or family member to help you. Or, bring that piece of hair up above your head and curl there. Or, bring it to the side and curl from there. I'm sure you can figure a way to get those hairs!!
