Everything You Need To Know About Bras

The Different Sizes:

Obviously, everyone has a different bra size. When buying bras, your size is based on your cup and your band. Cup sizes are represented by letters of the alphabet, with A being the smallest, whereas your band size is represented by numbers. People can have the same cup size but different band sizes, or the same band size and different cup sizes.

The Different Styles:

1. Underwire
Lifts the breasts up, giving them definition. This is good for smaller busts, giving them more shape. It is also good for larger busts, giving the support. This style also ensure natural shape.

2. Hiddenwire
Hidden wires offer great support and are unnoticeable under clothing. They work for all busts sizes, but breasts that are too large should be supported by a stronger wire.

3. Deep-V
This style shapes and lifts the bust, making it look fuller in the cup. It reveals the top part of the breasts, showing and allowing for some cleavage. This bra type is good for smaller breasted women. Straps on these bras are wider apart, making them an excellent pick for low cut tops or dresses.

4. Push-Up
This bra pushes breasts together and then lifts them up. It is used to create cleavage by repositioning the breasts. It also helps breasts look bigger by removable inserts such as air bags, liquids, or extra cushioning. Use this bra when wearing low or plunging necklines.

5. Molded / Seam Free
This bra is light, smooth, and seamless, while still supporting the bust. It is also very comfortable and makes for a good everyday bra. It is good to wear this under tight shirts or clothing.

6. Padded
Padded bras lift and support the bust, creating a more noticeable look. For such a reason. it is ideal for small breasted women. It also usually comes with removable air lift inserts.

7. Cotton Bra
Cotton bras have lightly padded cups and adjustable straps. These are comfortable everyday bras, as the feeling of the fabric is very nice.

8. Unpadded
This bra provides body forming support without an underwire. Because of this, it creates a natural look. This is good and comfortable bra to wear for women with larger breasts.

9. Different Straps
Sometimes when wearing one shoulder tops, or other shoulder-revealing clothes, it is nice to show off a pretty bra strap. You can buy straps separately from bras with different designs. The can vary from patterns to crystals.

10. Clear Strap
If you do not feel comfortable or supported wearing a strapless bra, or is you are wearing spaghetti straps and do not want your bra straps to show, buy a clear strap bra. The straps are clear and made out of plastic. They are hard to see and unnoticeable from a distance.

How To Measure Your Bra Size:

Studies show that as much as 80% of UK women wear the wrong bra size. To avoid this, here is an easy way to measure yours.

1. Measuring Your and Size
Run a measuring tape (in inches) around your body from under your breast. Make sure the tape is wrapped not to tight and not to loose, with your hands your size. If you land on an odd number, round up to the nearest even number. This should be your band size. If you land on an even number, your band size may vary from that number, or the next even number up.

2. Determining You Cup Size
The best way to do this is to use your current bra as a starting point. Keep in mind that cups and band are sized relative to each other. So, for each band size you decrease, increase your cup size by one. For example, if you wore a 36B bra, and your new band size measured 32, your cup size should change to a C. You can be sure your cup size is correct when your breasts are not completely covered, and do not flaunt out either.

3. Trying On Your New Sizes
Now, try on a bra with the new sizes you have reached. When you take the bra from the hanger, lengthen its straps a little. Then put your arms through the straps and lean forward so your breasts fall into the cups. Then fasten the bra on the loosest hooks. While still leaning forward, wiggle your bra from the underwire a little bit to see if your breasts have room to breathe. Then, lift you breasts up and inward towards the center to fit your breasts into the proper place.

4. Checking The Band Size
The right band size should be the smallest you can hook the bra, and still be comfortable. If it is too loose, the bra will not be supportive, and if it is too tight, it can stop your circulation. You know it is the right size if you are able to run your finger (not thumb) inside of the band. Bras usually have 3 hooks because as the elastic loosens, you can tighten the bra, so try to make sure you can comfortably wear the bra on the smallest hook, or at least the second smallest. If you fasten the bra on the tightest hook and it is very uncomfortable, switch to a bigger band size.

5. Checking The Cup Size
The correct cup size is when there is no space in between your breasts and your bra (too big), and there is no spillage of your breasts from the bra (too small). The too small rule or your breasts spilling out works for low cut and push up bras as well. Make sure the underwire fits under your breasts. If you lift your hands up stretching, your underwire should not rise up above your breasts. If you are not sure whether the cup size is right for you, try on a size bigger to see the difference.

6. Seeing How It Looks With Your Top On
Once you have picked a bra that fits well, put on your top to see how it looks. If this bra is the one for you, it should give a smooth line under your shirt. If it is too big, the bra cut will be obvious. If it is too small, bulges of your breasts will show up from your shirt.

Other Tips:
• To give yourself a cleavage, lean forward and lift your breasts to the center of your bra and then up slightly out of it. Put your bra at the tightest hook to keep this firm.
• Do not wear bras to sleep. The band, no matter how comfortable or loose, will tighten your blood circulation around you breasts and increase your chances of breast cancer.

Love,
ALPHA
