However, there actually is underwear made especially for your menstrual cycle. Period panties is made of fabric that is leakage proof and resistant to water. This is done by adding an extra layer to the crotch part of the panties. It is usually made of cotton for comfort and spandex for stretch. Some also allow you to insert your pad, with a crotch fit specially made for sanitary pads. Many of these are also usually worn on top of your normal underwear, for extra protection.
