Okay, stop being a snob and slob and get to work! These are the main things you need to do to get your room tidy and super clean - and it's only the basics too; no reorganizing or anything like that (even though I do like to organize everything!). So here's where we'll start.
1. Put Things Away.
All your crapola on the floor and on top of your desk and drawers? What I would do is actually make one huge pile. Either tackle that problem now (sort through it, see what's trash, what needs to be washed, put back in the proper place) or get it off the ground (like on your bed, on top of your desk or dresser) and you'll deal with that problemo later.
2. Vacuum
I don't see why people have such a fuss over cleaning. It's so simple and easy these days! You get a vacuum and you move along the floor - how hard is that? Make sure you follow a weave pattern so you don't miss any spots. I suppose the only complicated part of this whole vacuum thing is the different surfaces you may have. There's carpet, rug, tile, or wood (mainly). Each usually needs a different vacuum head to not hurt the floor and what not. I have wooden floors and a rug. So I have do change the head of the vacuum as well as the settings - but I mean, it's not difficult nor challenging. Go and vacuum crazy person! Oh, be sure to pick up things that can't or shouldn't be sucked with the vacuum - it could seriously damage it!
3. Laundry Time!
I guess you should probably sort out which things need to be washed. Read our post on how to do your laundry (for beginners of course). So, if you're at college and you really need to stay with your clothes - TOTALLY STAY. If not go upstairs and continue cleaning (if that is the case, do you laundry before you vacuum). Also, this would be a good time to wash your sheets! You really should wash your sheets at least one every month or so - at least your pillow cases (oil accumulates and therefore your face can get acne). Laundry is important - so just do it.
4. Trash
Hopefully you know when to take your trash out...yeah it's when the can is full and trash is probably building up. It's seriously gross to see an overflow of trash, take care of it pronto! Also, being Japanese, try your hardest to recycle!!
5. Put More of Your Things Away
Remember that pile of crap? Really tackle it; meaning, put everything in it's right place! Don't just put it aside, actually clean up. OR, get a new organizing system - which I think are very fun.
6. Make Your Bed
By now, you should be able to make your own bed. And if you don't, I'm sorry but that is kind of sad (Mainly talking to people from like middle school and older). If you washed your sheets then your bed should be completely clear and therefore make your bed. If you just slept in it - from there it's like the easiest thing ever! Just pull the sheets up and put on the covers and fluff your pillows. Not a hard thing to do people.
I would say those are the main things to get your room pretty tidy looking! I basically do those things and my room stays pretty. Then again I have like extreme OCD sometimes and will have to reorganize my entire room...clean is always good though! In the words of my father, "Don't be a dirty birdy."
