Television: Pan Am

I don't know what's with all the fascination with decade (well, mainly the 60s) themed shows recently! I mean That 70's Show, Mad Men, The Playboy Club and now ABC's Pan Am (Sunday's at 10pm!). And you know what, it's looking pretty good from my point of view.

Pan Am is a series based in the 1960s and it's about Flight Attendants. It's adventurous, sexy and exciting! It's set to be after the Cold War so everything is about espionage..kind of...There's still comedy, romance, family problems and even women's rights. And then every now and then a hint or two about spys! What! Shhh!!

Basically at this time, flying was luxurious and Pan Am was the head. That meant that being a Pan Am flight attendent was glamorous and probably the most desirable women in the world. The women not only have to be attractive, but educated, cultured and refined - impressive right?

I love it because it's such a powerful sisterhood and so pre-feminist - woot woot! It's such a great way to see an alternative for women in the 1960s. (You see this contrast especially in one of the girls!) I'm really liking this show so far! It's historical (they actually interviewed real Pan Am stewardesses!), the costume and the make up is so glamorous, and just the places they go are beautiful. Can't wait to see how this show unravels. Really, you should tune in to watch it. Sundays. 10 PM. ABC.
