A Touch of Color

This tutorial is to help with the basics of eye shadow. Nothing over the top or overly dramatic. It consists of a basic eye shadow with a hint of any color you like! These instructions all come from Bobbi Brown's book: 'Make Up Manual'. (It's fantastic, I recommend it).

Step 1: Base Eye Shadow
From Bobbi Brown's 'MakeUp Manual' page 96
According to the Eye Shadow Color Chart (above), select a light shade (known as your base color) and apply the color from the brow bone down to the lash line. Cover everywhere - including the inner corner of the eye and all the way up to the brow. When your done, make sure the eyelid is covered and the shadow is dense enough.

Step 2 : Add a Touch of Color
Color Pallets are really helpful because they provide an assortment
of similar shade. This one is from Sephora.
Now select a medium-tone shadow for the lid -- I used the top left corner for the base eye shadow, the color beside it for the medium-tone shadow. When applying try to use a fluffy shadow brush. Continue to apply from the lash line to the crease. Select a color shade and layer it on the outer corner and blend as you apply it. Blending with your hand is easier that to do with a brush. Experiment with different colors - lights, darks, bolds - but make sure you can blend it in!

Step 3: Liner and Mascara
Select your favorite form of liner (I used liquid). Apply from the middle of the eye in smooth strokes. Then apply the liner all the way to the inner corner of the eye. Carefully let it dry/settle, see what you have to do for the other eye and apply! Set back and look at your eyes and see if you're satisfied. Apply  Mascara next, gently move the wand to your eye lash (try to get a wand closest to your eye) Go along to ever part of your eye lash. ( I like to emphasize the corner of my eyes) To get longer lashes and help to separate lashes wiggle the wand as you apply the mascara.

Step 4 : The Finished Result!
(Sorry, it's a little hard to see!)

Ta-da!
All done :)
Love,
ALPHA
