Women of the Year

This year pop culture embraced its girly side. The best comedy of 2011? Bridesmaids, co-written by and starring Kristen Wigg (take that, horrible Hangover Part II). The biggest hit of the new TV season? New Girl, created by Liz Meriwether and starring Zooey Dechanel. Women like Adele, Gaga, Katy Perry, and Rihanna dominated the music charts. A woman, Jennifer Egan, won the Pulitzer Prize in fiction; Tina Fey, Ellen DeGeneres and Mindy Kaling stocked our bookshelves with hilarity; and you couldn't turn on the TV without running into a Kardashian or a Housewife (love 'em or not, they're a force!), Of cours, there were moment we'd rather forget - the continuing coverage of Michaele Salahi (we don;t are that she;s dating that Journey dude!); Madonna uttering, "I absolutely loathe hydrangeas" - but we'll get to those later. For now let's focus on the positive. As Beyonce aptly (if ungrammatically) put it: "Who run the world? Girls!" Here's hoping 2012 brings even more of what Bey Bey's talking about.

Yay! Women :) If you haven't picked up your copy of the December issue of Glamour, totally pick it up and read the articles about the Women of the Year! They are inspiring, beautiful, confident women. It's great to be a woman today :)

Love,
ALPHA
