Resumes: The Basics You Need To Know

Resumes are a really big deal. Everyone needs to have one and know what to put on the resume. I went to a resume seminar as a part of this marketing group that I'm in and these were the main points that they covered. Hope it helps!

Resume Content: 
Sections: Header, Profile, Experience, Education, References (Extra: Accomplishments, Rewards) 

Header: Name, Contact Info (Address, Phone Number, Email, Website)

Profile: Personal statement (who you are, what you're looking for), skills

Experience: Name of position/company/start-end date/details, organize by reverse chronology or relevance Consider the details: prioritize information based on what you think potential employer may be most interested INSTEAD of what you did the most in the position, include accomplishments, if possible quantify information 

Education: Name of schools/universities, date attended, an awards/honors/societies that may be relevant 
 --> which degree you are seeking 

References: can write " References available upon request" if none are readily accessible

 - Keep it professional BUT have a personal voice

At the meeting, they recommended that whenever you send your resume always use a pdf file. Also, have you resume handy like on your phone just in case you ever need it! Remember you're selling yourself!!
